Well, $&%#. When I set out to pick the winner for the Cult Nails Internet Meme Giveaway, I expected to pick about 4 honorable mentions, and 1 winner. But I, honestly, chuckled at all of entries, and about ten or so either spoke to my soul or made me seriously laugh out loud. Consequently, I ended up with a million honorable mentions and a complete dilemma as to the winner. This was really tough, it was down to three favorite memes. I really wish I had multiple prizes to give away. Read on to see who won!

Before I get drawn and quartered by Lynnderella fans, let me just say: I wasn’t around from the dramz and I am totally not passing judgment on the polishes, etc. There are even a few I might pick up eventually. Still though, this seriously made me crack up. Thanks to Anna for the entry.

BAHAHAHAHA. This is the story of my life. Seriously. I think I chose so many of these nail polish = poverty memes, because they hit so close to home. I can’t help but to laugh/cry at them. Both of these were entered by Amy.

 Along the same lines, and still so true. I’m sure I’ll really love all my decades-old nail polish while I’m  mooching off my children during retirement. Entered by Jess!

*tears!!* I missed out on the 2,000 recent Butter London sales (see meme # 2) but this one made me laugh because I know a ton of people had this problem. Entered by Mollie!

Okay and now we get down to the nitty-gritty. The next set of entries were the ones that gave me a really hard time. All of these were absolutely hilarious, you ALL deserve a prize.

Which then causes me to a.) incur debt and my husband’s ire, or b.) pump my fists into the sky, asking why, oh why. This meme was entered by fellow blogger The Polish Well.

I picked this set to win, not only because I love me some Ryan Gosling but also because I secretly wish my husband would say this sort of stuff (instead of, “hey, um, there’s nail polish covering every surface in the livingroom – can we, maybe, put some of it away?”)

And a brief blog-status update: I feel a lot better and I’m almost caught up at work. I spent all day yesterday swatching and I have a ton of awesome polishes to post coming up. Good news, I’m back from my trip to Savannah, GA. Bad news, I’m super swamped with work and life after being gone for most of last week. To add to that, I’ve been, and I still am, pretty sick. EXTENDING THE CULT NAILS CONTEST UNTIL NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT AT 11:59PM EST.

I’ve had so much fun reading your entries and I figured I might as well keep the contest open until I have an actual chance to sit down and pick a winner. This will also give me a chance to post some Cult Nails swatches for your viewing pleasure. If you haven’t seen it already, here is the link to the original post detailing the rules for contest.

As I began emersing myself back in nail culture, Cult Nails was one of the brands that everyone, and I really mean everyone, said I needed to check out. After that I began amassing a mega-list of Cult lemmings. When Maria contacted me about the giveaway, she was kind enough to fulfill some of those Cult lemmings for me. Sadly, none of my Cult lemmings were work appropriate so Maria, knowing that I’m trying (quite unsuccessfully) to focus on professional shades, was kind enough to send me some of those too.

Cult Nails Enticing is a delicate, milky baby pink with a very subtle pearly white shimmer that is nearly invisible. I wasn’t able to capture it, but Let Them Have Polish has great swatches that exhibit the subtle shimmer very well. This color is billed as a buildable sheer and that’s an accurate description. This swatch is 4 coats, but it was fully opaque at 3. This color was a part of the Divas and Drama 2012 Collection (of which I now need ALL).

Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude is a darker toned nude with very fine magenta microshimmer that glows. Suprisingly, I found the shimmer more visible indoors, than outdoors. If your skin-tone is like mine, this color is a spot-on BABB (Band-Aid But Better). CN is definitely work appropriate, but with an interesting twist. This swatch is 3 coats. Cruisin’ Nude was released in 2011 in a collection entitled A Day at the Races.

I’m going to hold off on my new-to-me-brand comments (i.e. bottle style, brush, application, quality, pricing, wear, etc.) until I post Cult Nails Awakening and Vicious – which I wore as NOTDs. (However, rest assured, I have nothing negative to say). I was on vacation the week I worked on these swatches so I used that as opportunity to rock some non-professional shades. If you’re new to this brand too, they are available for $10 from Cult Nails.

The concept here is similar to the Haiku Contest - your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create a nail polish related internet meme. You can use any medium, for example, you can create a Rage Comic, a someecard, an I Can Haz Cheezburger type photo with a caption, a fail image with a caption, a Mckayla is Not Impressed image, anything goes. Also, you can cover any nail polish related topic, you can poke fun at us bloggers, brands, colors, collector habits, i.e. hauling, hoarding, purging - whatever strikes your fancy. I will choose the winner based on creativity and hilarity. : D I know this contest is a little more involved than typical contests but the prize is worth it and I’m hoping everyone will have fun!
