Drum Roll Please… The Winner of the Cult Giveaway is….

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

Well, $&%#. When I set out to pick the winner for the Cult Nails Internet Meme Giveaway, I expected to pick about 4 honorable mentions, and 1 winner. But I, honestly, chuckled at all of entries, and about ten or so either spoke to my soul or made me seriously laugh out loud. Consequently, I ended up with a million honorable mentions and a complete dilemma as to the winner. This was really tough, it was down to three favorite memes. I really wish I had multiple prizes to give away. Read on to see who won!

Before I get drawn and quartered by Lynnderella fans, let me just say: I wasn’t around from the dramz and I am totally not passing judgment on the polishes, etc. There are even a few I might pick up eventually. Still though, this seriously made me crack up. Thanks to Anna for the entry.

BAHAHAHAHA. This is the story of my life. Seriously. I think I chose so many of these nail polish = poverty memes, because they hit so close to home. I can’t help but to laugh/cry at them. Both of these were entered by Amy.

Along the same lines, and still so true. I’m sure I’ll really love all my decades-old nail polish while I’m  mooching off my children during retirement. Entered by Jess!

*tears!!* I missed out on the 2,000 recent Butter London sales (see meme # 2) but this one made me laugh because I know a ton of people had this problem. Entered by Mollie!

Aaaa hahahaha : D I wasn’t around when this happened and, boy, am I glad… because I would have been hella-angry/rampage-y. You can read about the whole fiasco on Mara’s blog. Thanks to Hannah for the entry!

This is likely the #1 nail polish related sin!! It’s a crime against humanity and causes facepalms left and right. Don’t it! Entered by Jessi.

Okay and now we get down to the nitty-gritty. The next set of entries were the ones that gave me a really hard time. All of these were absolutely hilarious, you ALL deserve a prize.

This first entry was also by Jessi, oh how she slayed me:

This happens me to me every. single. time. I do my nails, without fail. How sad am I? haha. Loved this meme.

*dies laughing* I swear this happens to me constantly. I blow all my money at the beginning of the month, declare a no-buy, then inevitably a sale will happen at the end of the month. Which then causes me to a.) incur debt and my husband’s ire, or b.) pump my fists into the sky, asking why, oh why. This meme was entered by fellow blogger The Polish Well.

And, finally, the winner is:

*cries* Both of these were entered by Krystan - these were my two favorites but all her entries were awesome. Hey Girl, quit your day job because you are a comedic genius. I picked this set to win, not only because I love me some Ryan Gosling but also because I secretly wish my husband would say this sort of stuff (instead of, “hey, um, there’s nail polish covering every surface in the livingroom – can we, maybe, put some of it away?”)

Yeay! I hope you all had as much fun as I did – and I’m glad that the internet is now flooded with hilarious nail polish memes. *evil laugh – my plan is now complete* And a final special thanks to Maria and Cult Nails for this awesome giveaway!

And a brief blog-status update: I feel a lot better and I’m almost caught up at work. I spent all day yesterday swatching and I have a ton of awesome polishes to post coming up. It took me all night to get this post done so I haven’t had a chance to respond to emails or comments, but I will tomorrow! Thanks for your patience. : )

Cult Nails Giveaway Update & Some Work Appropriate Cult Selections

Monday, October 15th, 2012

Good news, I’m back from my trip to Savannah, GA. Bad news, I’m super swamped with work and life after being gone for most of last week. To add to that, I’ve been, and I still am, pretty sick. In other words, it’s going to take me a couple of days to catch up - so I probably won’t get a chance to judge the Cult Nails Internet Meme Giveaway until this weekend. For that reason…

 I am…

I’ve had so much fun reading your entries and I figured I might as well keep the contest open until I have an actual chance to sit down and pick a winner. This will also give me a chance to post some Cult Nails swatches for your viewing pleasure. If you haven’t seen it already, here is the link to the original post detailing the rules for contest.

As I began emersing myself back in nail culture, Cult Nails was one of the brands that everyone, and I really mean everyone, said I needed to check out. After that I began amassing a mega-list of Cult lemmings. When Maria contacted me about the giveaway, she was kind enough to fulfill some of those Cult lemmings for me. Sadly, none of my Cult lemmings were work appropriate so Maria, knowing that I’m trying (quite unsuccessfully) to focus on professional shades, was kind enough to send me some of those too.

Cult Nails Enticing is a delicate, milky baby pink with a very subtle pearly white shimmer that is nearly invisible. I wasn’t able to capture it, but Let Them Have Polish has great swatches that exhibit the subtle shimmer very well. This color is billed as a buildable sheer and that’s an accurate description. This swatch is 4 coats, but it was fully opaque at 3. This color was a part of the Divas and Drama 2012 Collection (of which I now need ALL).

Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude is a darker toned nude with very fine magenta microshimmer that glows. Suprisingly, I found the shimmer more visible indoors, than outdoors. If your skin-tone is like mine, this color is a spot-on BABB (Band-Aid But Better). CN is definitely work appropriate, but with an interesting twist. This swatch is 3 coats. Cruisin’ Nude was released in 2011 in a collection entitled A Day at the Races.

I’m going to hold off on my new-to-me-brand comments (i.e. bottle style, brush, application, quality, pricing, wear, etc.) until I post Cult Nails Awakening and Vicious – which I wore as NOTDs. (However, rest assured, I have nothing negative to say). I was on vacation the week I worked on these swatches so I used that as opportunity to rock some non-professional shades. If you’re new to this brand too, they are available for $10 from Cult Nails.

What do you all think about Cult Nails? Only picking up the “different” shades, or do you love them for their more traditional colors as well?

Disclaimer: These polishes were sent to me for review by Cult Nails.

Cult Nails Internet Meme Giveaway!!

Monday, October 8th, 2012

If you haven’t heard it’s Cultober, a month full of giveaways hosted by the illustrious brand, Cult Nails. You can read all about it on the Cult Nails Blog. I feel really honored to be one of the lucky bloggers to participate in all the fun. The wonderful Maria, founder of Cult Nails, has pretty much given me carte blanche with this giveaway so I’ve decided to do an Internet Meme Contest.

The prize is $50.00 worth of any Cult Nails goodies of YOUR CHOICE! In order to help you select, I will be posting swatches of some great Cult Nails polishes this month.

There are only two requirements. First, you must follow Cult Nails on Twitter. Second, you must submit an internet meme in the comments section of this post. Your comment must include your twitter user name. *Edit* Multiple entries are allowed.

The concept here is similar to the Haiku Contest - your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create a nail polish related internet meme. You can use any medium, for example, you can create a Rage Comic, a someecard, an I Can Haz Cheezburger type photo with a caption, a fail image with a caption, a Mckayla is Not Impressed image, anything goes. Also, you can cover any nail polish related topic, you can poke fun at us bloggers, brands, colors, collector habits, i.e. hauling, hoarding, purging - whatever strikes your fancy. I will choose the winner based on creativity and hilarity. : D I know this contest is a little more involved than typical contests but the prize is worth it and I’m hoping everyone will have fun!

Here are a few someecards I made as examples (these are super simple to create on the someecard website):

(inspired by Jeanette of The Swatcholic, hahaha).

Submitting you entry: Your entry can be submitted by posting your creation in the comments section of this post. Since one of the requirements is following Cult Nails on twitter and because the winner will be announced on Twitter, you will have to include your Twitter handle in your comment for confirmation purposes. Feel free to tweet your entry to me as well, although it’s not required. Following me on twitter is also not a requirement, but I would love it if you did. : )

As an added incentive, Cult Nails is running a parallel Twitter contest in which you can win $100 worth of any Cult Nails goodies! You can read about it here. I will get to choose one of the winners – and Maria says I can even offer the soon to be OOS Cult Nails Awakening as a prize!

Official Rules: The approximate value of the prize is $50.00. Although you get to choose which Cult Nails polishes or products you want as a part of your prize, your choice is subject to the availability of the polish or product. This prize is non-transferable. There are no cash or other substitutes of prizes by winner. The Polish Addict reserves the right to substitute similar prizes of equal or greater value in the event the above prize is unavailable for any reason. Individual, parent, or legal guardian of the winner is solely responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes with respect to the grand prize. Prize will be mailed from Cult Nails to the winner’s physical mailing address. Please allow six (6) to eight (8) weeks for delivery.
By entering or accepting the prize in this contest, winner agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, Terms, and Conditions and to conform to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
No purchase necessary to enter or win. This contest runs from October 8th, 2012 through October 15th,  2012 at 12:01AM EST. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter. We hereby release Twitter of any liability.

Eligibility This contest is open internationally unless prohibited by their local state/country. Prizes won by minors will be awarded to their parent or legal guardian on their behalf. For reference, the age of majority is 18 years old in the United States, with the exception of Alabama (19), Delaware (19), Mississippi (21), and Nebraska (19).

How To Win One (1) winner will be selected by me from all eligible entries after contest closes. In the event that the original winner does not meet eligibility requirements or he/she forfeits the prize, the prize may be awarded to the next eligible participant chosen by me. All entries must be received on or before October 15th, 2012 at 12:01AM EST. The winner will be notified via twitter. Winner will have 48 hours to claim prize after initial notification. If winner fails to respond within 48 hours, an alternate winner will be selected.

Thanks to Amy of Gotham Polish for letting me borrow her extremely well worded contest rules. : )

I’m really excited for this – I hope you all are too! Happy Memeing!
