OPI – It’s Sheer Luck!… I PASSED THE BAR EXAM!
As some of you may know, I’ve been on hiatus because I was studying for the bar exam. What you don’t know is that I was utterly and totally convinced that I failed the exam. The testing occurs over the course of two days. The first day, the Florida portion of the exam, beat me down and ultimately broke me. I walked out of the testing center, did the walk of shame back to my hotel room, thought about how I would be staying there again in February to retake the exam and I cried. Yes, it really was that bad. The questions were just absurd and completely unexpected. I could have memorized the study materials word for word and I still wouldn’t have known the correct answers with absolute certainty. The second day consisted of the MBE (the national portion), it was hard but very fair. My hope was that I would score high enough on the MBE to make up for my major failure on the Florida portion. The problem is… you have to wait almost 2 months for the scores to be released. I was hanging over the edge of a cliff over these scores.
Then, finally, the scores came in the mail. Not only did I pass, but to my complete disbelief, I actually scored very well on both portions.
What does all this have to do with nail polish? Well, sometimes life throws some pretty perplexing stuff my way and when it does I take the opportunity to find a color that expresses how I feel.
The name says it all. OPI It’s Sheer Luck is a ultra light pink toned off-white with a frost finish. This is 3 coats. This color was originally from the Las Vegas Collection (Spring/Summer 2003) but I believe it became part of the main Soft Shades Collection all of which are available on an on going basis.

I’m so excited for you. I was praying that you would pass! I knew you could do it. You just needed to have more faith in yourself. You passed this exam and now you can do anything! Your manicure is beautiful but it wasn’t sheer luck. It was damned hard work and you did it. I’m so excited that I’m the first online to congratulate you. Now then,I am new to your blog but I must tell you that it’s not “sheer luck” that you passed it. It’s called hard work. And many times when you think that you did poorly on a test, even something as big as the bar exam, it’s actually a good sign because you knew enough to know what you didn’t know, if that makes sense.
Anyway, I am so excited for you. I love your blog and hope you have more time to feed my addiction to beautiful nails. I am ordering some polish after seeing it here.

Hi, so first of all I would like to say that I’m a guy. I started to polish my nails about a year and half ago… at first I tried it only on weekends, then more and more often, until finally I started to wear it non-stop. I wear clear coats on my fingers and dark colors on my toes (Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Purple, Dark Green). Anyway I was wondering if this is normal for a guy to do, and no I’m not gay. Well you see ladies it kind of grew on me, I didn’t really intend for this to happen this way, I guess I got addicted to applying and wearing polish somehow? but how? I know that sounds absurd. Please help.

There is nothing wrong with a guy who paints his nails. I think it’s cool. Nail polish is addictive! You go with your bad self.
In any event, I hope we know if this blog is defunct or not soon. I enjoy Polish Addict’s swatches and posts. But if I know she has moved on, I can stop checking!

Thanks Dana makes me feel better ;) I guess I just refuse to conform to society’s so called “Norms”, and so be it. I get the odd look from some guys, and even some women. No one has really said anything to me directly though, which is good. Some are taken back at first I guess, but you can get used to it. I like open minded individuals Dana. Anyway when I first started doing this I didn’t think I would like it, it actually did feel weird to me too at first… but I started to do it more and more often and just sort of got used to it… later on I couldn’t stand my nails without color on them, they just looked too boring. And I enjoy the smooth feeling of the polish on your nails too and the feel of it on your nails. However I do think any type of reds/pinks, really are not for guys, that actually does look quite gay even to me ( and I have about 20 bottles now). I still don’t wear dark colors on my fingers, just stick to the clear coats mainly… however I do experiment with putting a tinge of color into my clear coats (haha so I cheat) but not to make it too obvious that it’s there… right now I’m wearing Sally Hansens New Lengths Whipped Creme, which is very suttle with one coat, a bit more visible with 2 coats… but to get bottle color you need 3-4 i find so I do like this polish very much as I can have the best of both worlds, its almost clear you can see the nail even with 2-3 coats but is clearly visibly cream colored at the same time. And yes nail polish is very addictive only psychologically obviously.
