Reader Requests: OPI I Only Drink Champagne & OPI Don’t Know… Beets Me
OPI I Only Drink Champagne is a very light frosty champagne gold. This is 3 coats plus top coat. It’s a very flattering color, I’d say… neutral with an oomph. It’s been recently discontinued along with a few other colors from the Night Brights collection so grab it while you still can.
OPI Don’t Know… Beets Me! is a vibrant mid-range hot pink. I bought it because it’s sort of the half way point between OPI Koala Bear-y and OPI I’m India Mood for Love. I’m a little baffled by the name… beets… are dark red? If the people at OPI have access to genetically altered hot pink beets, personally, I’d like to know. I believe this is 2 coats (I forgot to write it down haha) plus top coat.

That pink is screaming my name! And yes, i was a little confused by the hot pink color when I read the name had beets in it.

Two things: First, I absolutely love looking at your site every day. Second, what base coat and/or nail strengthner do you use? All my nails broke when my office moved and I’m trying to figure out what to use to make them grow back and not break. Thanks!! :)

Melanie – : P Good to know.
Ish – Sure thing. : )
Kristine – Very very good. I hope this doesn’t become a dreaded impossible to find. *sigh*
Sanna – Thanks. Hey, I’m in the process of talking to Color Club about the possibility of giving you a runner-up prize too because Scrangie, Dami, and I really really liked your entries in the Franken contest too but we only have two prizes to give away. I’ll let you know if I hear back something positive from them. ; )
Brooke – It’s a very cool color just a really silly name. lol.
Sarah – Thank you and I don’t really use a strengthener – I just keep my nails constantly painted. A lot of girls have very good luck with Nail Tek and taking a vitamin supplement called Biotin. As for basecoats, I use different things with different brands but I really like Color Club Stuck on You and Nail Laminates No More Chips, other girls really like Creative Stickey and Orly Bonder. Hope that helps. : )
Lily – Thanks. : )

Hmm, in Sweden we make a salad with beets, mayo and whipped cream (and some spices) that is the exact color of this polish. Maybe Suzi went to Sweden? ;-)

Monique – Let me know how you like them if you get them.
Pixelpig – That actually sounds delicious. : )

[...] To celebrate my new found color choice freedom, I pulled out one of the loudest polishes in my collection, Misa Green with Envy. This is a bright (and I mean BRIGHT) lime green. It’s extremely different, I don’t own anything else quite like it. I didn’t have any application issues (it actually applied really well) but it seriously took like 5 hours to get this manicure done. Every time I finished, I would dent one finger – it happened 6 different times! I used 3 coats of color and 1 coat of Misa BACKbone as the base and 1 coat of Seche Vite as the top coat. If I’m ever feeling particularly adventurous I might try to do a half-moon mani using Green with Envy and OPI Don’t Know… Beets Me. [...]

I LOVE your blog! I’m an OPI “junkie” and your swatches always help me with my final decisions. But how can you go wrong with OPI? It’s a wonderful polish brand! Thank you for being so generous and paying attention to our requests.
