Super Underrated: Misa Runway Collection Swatches
Misa Runway Collection was released several seasons ago but its awesomeness goes mostly unappreciated. I love collections that have themes that relate the colors to each other in some way. Runway is composed of chic dusty shades, very reminiscent of haute couture, that look as though they were meant to be together. Despite being an older collection, it’s surprisingly relevant as far as this fall’s newest trends. It’s almost as if Misa had some insight into the future with this one. All these colors have excellent application (except where noted.)
Misa Runway Diva is a dusty rose. Excellent application, this is two coats. Love it.
Misa Fashionista is a dusty purplish mauve. Again, excellent application, this is two coats. *Love it.*
Misa High Waist Hue is a dusty pink. It’s actually a pinker version of OPI Ticke My France-y, which I passionately love. It also has really subtle, practically nonexistent blue shimmer. I only noticed it under my photography lighting. This is 3 coats but the application was good.
Misa Moody Model is a milk chocolate creme. Ah, this is that elusive and rare wearable brown. 2 coats. And again, great application.
Misa Passion 4 Fashion is a dark chocolate creme. Everyone has been wondering how this stacks up against Lippmann Maneater. Lippmann is a much darker ‘almost black’. Passion 4 Fashion is as dark as chocolate can get without looking ‘almost black’. This is 2 coats, also great application.
Misa Hot Couture is a dusty honey mustard creme. I wore this one was a mani earlier this week. I really *really* wanted to love this one because it’s so unique and chic looking in the bottle. Sadly, it didn’t flatter my skin tone at all. Maybe when I get a tan again? I’m sort of a pasty yellow color right now. : P This is 2 coats. My bottle was a little on the thick side so I used 3 drops of thinner and it was fine.

Hot Couture is one weird color! I *know* there are people that will put that on and look fabulous. But my first reaction is “it looks like baby poo”
Your nails are looking wonderful! As always :)

I love Passion for Fashion!! Looks fabulous, right up my alley. Have you tried Revlon – Hot for Chocolate? I wonder how that would compare. I love hot for chocolate, it’s my current NOTD

Beuatiful swatches as always! I love Runway Diva, Fashionista and High Wiast Hue. By the way, how do you think Runway Diva compares to Opi’s Japanese Rose Garden?

What a great idea to swatch an older collection! I would love to see you doing more of these :)
Passion 4 Fashion and Fashionista are my faves of the bunch!

Passion 4 Fashion is the perfect dark chocolate shade IMO:) Awesome pics!

Dee – LOL! Thank you and ok, ok, it does, a little. : P
Katee – I don’t have that one, so I don’t know. I don’t really care for drug store brands most of the time.
Kay – Thank you. : ) I don’t have a bottle to compare side by side but in my opinion JRG is more of a true pink and doesn’t have the dusty effect.
Minahan – I plan to do a ton in the very near future! : )
Sanna – I agree – just dark enough.
Sminkan – Thank you. : )
Ninarz – lol. You’re all into these pinks and reds lately. : P

Well, I agree with most here, Passion 4 Fashion is the one I took a liking to. The others seemed a bit on the “mature” side, or what I call a “Mom Color”. Great pics though!

I am a polish snob as far as drug store brands go too. But I was at Victoria’s Secret and the girl at the check out counter was wearing it and I was like “OMG What color is that?” and so I thought I’d try it. I liked the formula, no problems with it here!
What do you do with the polishes that you don’t like? Do you keep them in your stash? Trade them on MUA? Let them pile up?
October 15th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Brooke – Aww… I love “mom” colors. lol.
Katee – I RAOK them.
October 15th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
That is super nice of you!!
October 15th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Whoa!! Hot Couture should go on the fugly list, it’s right up there w/ Opi and Apple Pie. LOL

I am wondering where you could buy Misa, Zoya, and Essie nail polish?
If you could, it would help if you could put where you get the nail polishes. They are utterly fantastic. :]
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
K – I’m not ready to put it on the fug list just yet…. and I… uh… uh… like OPI and Apple Pie *hides to avoid rotten tomatoes* lol.
Kat – Misa & Essie can be purchased on head2toebeauty.com. Zoya can be purchased at zoya.com (they’re having a great sale right now check above my Obama banner at the top of the page.)

I bet Hot Couture would look pretty with an amber ring. Sometimes when a polish doesn’t quite work with my skin, I can match it to my jewelry. Even better when a polish doesn’t happen to work with my skin but it looks good with my eyes, people seem to give it the most compliments. I must move my hands around a lot. LOL. It happened with Zoya Tangy, but I think I would have to go with the ring to pull off Hot Couture.

you know, i checked out these swatches *just* after buying a huge haul from 8ty8 and i almost cried. most are on my wishlist now lol. btw i’ve been lurking your blog for weeks and i really enjoy it. your manicures are always flawless!
October 16th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Diana – lol. I’ve never thought to do that, I’m going to have to pay more attention to my jewelry from now on. : ) And I agree, I think an amber ring would do Hot Couture some good.
sg – Noooooooo. I hate when that happens. (I probably shouldn’t be an enabler and tell you this but… Tom, the sales guy at 8ty8, will add to you order if you email him and let him know what else you want. I do it *all* the time. lol.)
October 16th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
I almost see a pinkish tone to moody model on you, maybe its your skin tone? Its really very pretty on you! I think I might try it….hope it looks like that on me…
October 17th, 2008 at 6:09 am
Yea, I think that can be attributed to my skin tone. At least I don’t remember the pinkish tinge when I took the shot. I’ll have to double check when I get home.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:28 am
WOW Misa is winning me back with their colors. I always loved the application but never cared for the colors.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
This collection is definitely worth it. Great colors, despite their mom-ness. : P
October 19th, 2008 at 5:41 am
Great swatches :) I just added Runway Diva and Hot Couture to my cart at Head2Toe because of this post.. I’m a darkskinned black chick, so colors like Hot Couture and those that aren’t popular tend look good on me. *goes off to look for OPI Apple Pie* lol..
October 19th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Rasberry – I’m pretty dark skinned too which is why I can usually get away with those types of colors but I haven’t been out in the sun for *months* so now I’m a pasty yellow. That’s why I’m not giving up on Hot Couture yet. lol. OPI and Apple Pie is like a running joke because no one likes it – I personally think it’s awesome. I’ll post a swatch soon. : )
